(Kazan, February 7, Tatar-inform). The World Wildlife Fund has announced another event called Earth Hour: Russians, as well as other residents on the Earth, are suggested to switch off the light for one hour on March 27.

“There are seven weeks to go till Earth Hour. The symbolic event summons people worldwide to switch off the light for one hour on March 27 at 20:30 local time,” reads a press release dispensed in Moscow. The release says 72 countries have confirmed their participation in this year’s event, over 400 cities across the world,” reports Interfax.

Earth Hour is to be held in Russia for a second time. Last year, 6 million Russians switched off the light, including over 20 Russian cities, 10 provinces and 40 companies.

In the spring of 2009, over 3 thousand cities across the world took part in the WWF campaign. Twenty two facilities were disconnected in Moscow.

The Earth Hour event was first held in March 2007 in Australia’s Sydney.
