Alexander Shadrin presents Salvador Dali’s “Face” to Kazan
4 March 2010, 17:14
(Kazan, March 4, Tatar-inform, Lucia Kamalova). Collector Alexander Shadrin has gifted one of surrealism genius Salvador Dali’s lithographies to Tatarstan Museum of Fine Arts. It is the work painted by the artist a year before his beloved died. The lithography “face” from the angelic series is dedicated to Gala. Before handing the lithography to Tatarstan MFA Director Rozalia Nurgaleyeva, Alexander Shadrin signed it: “To Kazan citizens with gratitude for Salvador Dali’s muse – Gala!!!”
In his speech, Alexander Shadrin expressed his indignation by an article in one of the local newspapers which claimed the exhibited works were counterfeit. He again has taken oath that he has all necessary documents proving the work’s authenticity. The collector’s representative held negotiations from 1998 to 2006. The parties’ conditions constantly changed during 8 years. “The collection has been registered at the Russian Ministry of Culture,” the collector claimed, however, didn’t show any documents.
Meanwhile, the exhibition of Salvador Dali’s works will be demonstrated in Kirov and St. Petersburg after Kazan. It will be open in Kazan until March 15.
